Comments and reflections from the Camaione Family: Looking back at my father's retirement, we chuckle. . .because we question the word retirement. We are quite sure our father has NOT retired and never will. He still influences his colleagues, is involved in the lives of his students, and still coaches wrestling. As a family of educators, we understand the vocation, true calling, that IS the art of teaching. A fitting way to honor and celebrate our Dad's teaching legacy and the support of our mother was/is to offer continuous opportunities to influence hungry minds: that is what a scholarship does. We saw NEACSM as the perfect vehicle to honor our Dad by giving back and engaging him in the venture. As my/our mom believed at the time, NEACSM was willing to try something new and we’ve been so appreciative of how they’ve embraced and nurtured the idea ever since.
We are pleased and humbled that what started as a simple way in which to celebrate and thank our parents has grown to this level of influence. Though this growth was unexpected, it is an appropriate and fulfilling way to see a project blossom. We have always know how blessed we are as a family, but we are reminded by the blessing of NEACSM to our family, to our father, and to bright and promising students.
